About us
Behind Little Moments
Behind Little Moments is me, Ying Hsi Chen, an artist creating pieces for people of all ages. I established Little Moments in 2024, and since then, I've created more than 20 unique artworks, with many more on the way.
My Journey to Art
I started my artistic journey in kindergarten, though it was more of a creative exercise back then. Growing up in Taiwan, I didn’t feel like I could pursue art as a career because the culture wasn't as free and open as it is in places like Denmark or France. I ended up graduating with degrees in business management and marketing from both Taiwan, the UK and France.
When COVID hit, I landed an internship in Copenhagen and decided to stay, working with a Danish startup. Being immersed in a mix of French and Danish design and culture inspired me to explore my own creativity. I started learning oil painting and experimenting with different mediums, eventually falling in love with oil pastels. I was amazed at how they could create the same sophisticated feeling as oil paintings.
The Beginning of Little Moments
Little Moments was born out of a moment of pure magic. In 2024, I sold my first oil painting at a flea market. I was trying to sell my art alongside some of my old belongings, and I couldn't believe someone would actually want to buy my painting. The feeling I got when I saw the customer's happy reaction was amazing. I'll always remember it—a boyfriend buying a flower painting for his girlfriend. It was a beautiful, romantic moment, and I want to keep that spirit alive in my work. Whether you buy a piece or not, my hope is that my art brings you a sense of calm and happiness just by looking at it.
The Meaning of Little Moments
Initially, the name for my work was "Koosu," a name that came to me during a coffee chat with my friend, Sandra. She pointed out that it has the same pronunciation as the Taiwanese word for "story."
After looking at my paintings and photos, I realized that what I love to capture are the little moments of life. This discovery inspired me to change the name from "Koosu" to "Little Moments," as it better reflects the heart of my work.
